The national minimum wage is the minimum wage that most workers are entitled to by law. For an employer, failure to pay your workers the national minimum wage can be expensive if you are caught by HM Revenue & Customs investigators. Consequently, it is important that businesses are aware of the rules governing the national minimum wage and in particular take steps to ensure that all their employees are paid in accordance with the National minimum wage.
